The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has news for you if you run a business and have a website.  In 2025 it will be stepping up its action to ensure websites comply with cookie laws.

Your website may not be in the top 1000 but the ICO is coming and your turn to be monitored may come round sooner than you know it.  Now’s the time to get it right!

  • Make it easier for users to opt out of non-essential cookies (like advertising trackers).
  • Offer a “Reject All” button, if you have an “Accept All” click through.
  • Stop using cookies when users have said no.
  • Use plain language to explain how user’s data is being used, what cookies are and what they do.

A copy of the ICO’s strategy can be found here.
